Our story
Project Beauty Share was founded in 2010 by Julie Farley, a professional makeup artist and business owner of The Make-up Studio in Spokane WA.
Julie’s desire to give back to the community and to help women all started with a conversation involving a customer who was having a makeup lesson in her chair. The customer’s makeup bag was filled with products that she wasn’t going to use. Instead, she planned on donating it to a local organization that served women experiencing homelessness and poverty. Julie was inspired by that conversation, and it set into motion what would become Project Beauty Share as we know it today.
Project Beauty Share, being a grassroots organization, for many years was run almost solely by dedicated volunteers and the founding board members that supported our mission. In 2010, our initiative started with serving a handful of local non-profit organizations. Today, we are serving more than 100 agencies in the Inland Northwest and have a national program that partners with 15 cities across the nation.
