A year in review with Project Beauty Share’s Founder and Executive Director, Julie Farley

The new year is upon us. What a great opportunity to think back on 2019 and how much growth we have achieved to continue with our mission:

Project Beauty Share provides personal hygiene, cosmetics, and beauty products to non-profit organizations who serve women and families overcoming abuse, addiction, homelessness, and poverty to help restore hope and dignity in their lives.

The Numbers

The development and mission of Project Beauty Share in 2019 has been both challenging and rewarding. We’ve gone from distributing 55,000 pounds of personal hygiene and beauty products in 2018 to 80,000 pounds in 2019! The donated items had a significant economic impact on non-profits in the Northwest, with a value of more than 2 million dollars. We were able to serve more than 80 agencies and help restore dignity and hope to thousands of women and their families.

Expansion

Our largest growth in 2019 came from expanding our reach into the rural areas of Washington State. Because of the large jump in donations, we were able to provide personal hygiene and beauty products to food banks and pantries that serve the working poor in their communities.

Our Team

Our warehouse is managed by Ken Briggs, who brings years of warehouse knowledge and non-profit management to our operations team.

Our new Development Director, Asia Plaza, joined the Project Beauty Share family in the fall of 2019. She is an energetic young woman with development experience and a passion for helping and empowering women.

I was officially named Executive Director of Project Beauty Share in 2019. After founding the organization in 2010, it is an honor to continue my journey of helping women in need to feel better and stronger about who they are and what they do.

Volunteers

Project Beauty Share wouldn’t be where it is today without our amazing volunteers. We are continually blessed with the support of local volunteers that help sustain our mission. We are always looking for more volunteers to join our movement. Click here for details on getting involved with one of our events in 2020 or by visiting our warehouse to sanitize and sort donated products.

Favorite Moments

With so many exciting accomplishments and milestones in 2019, it was hard to narrow down my favorite moments of the year! Here are my top three:

  • Beauty Wishes 2019: We raised nearly $40,000 through our second Beauty Wishes collaboration with Seattle-based beauty and lifestyle influencer, Taylor Wynn.
  • Evening En Blanc: Our second annual event raised $122,000!
  • Erno Laszlo: We partnered with Erno Laszlo, a beauty and skincare line, to create the #HAULIDAYDONATION campaign, which resulted in a generous $10,000 donation. Project Beauty Share team members attended their holiday event in New York to launch the exciting and interactive promotion. In addition, their team visited our facility in Spokane for a tour and the $10,000 check presentation – they even helped sanitize products!

Thank you for the continued support and dedication to Project Beauty Share since we began this journey 10 years ago. Here’s to an equally amazing 2020.
